One more week before break! We're a third of the way done. If your grade isn't where you want it to be, please make sure to check out my study tips under the Resources tab above.
Your Unit 3 test is on Tuesday. This week, we are going to start "spiraling" previous units into short multiple choice reviews. These grades will go into the Miscellaneous category and will help ensure you're not forgetting anything before the EOC. Have a great weekend! Mrs. Izquierdo Are you counting down to break yet? 10 school days, can you believe it? Here's what you need to know:
You have a quiz over 2-column proofs on Tuesday. It would be wise for you to rework through all the proofs we've done in class. Your Unit 3 test is coming up on 9/18. Have an awesome weekend! Mrs. Izquierdo Can you believe you've been in school for a month already? Here's what you need to know for the week:
1. We are going full force with proofs. We will be spending the next few days doing nothing but proofs all class long. 2. You have a quiz on Thursday. Notice the calendar says "no proofs". This means you will not be expected to write a full two-column proof on this quiz... yet. The quiz title is "triangles". You'll be expected to know anything and everything related to triangles, including the 5 ways to prove them congruent. Again, you will NOT be expected to write out a two-column proof... yet. 3. I noticed a large portion of you struggled with identifying triangle centers on Friday's quiz and in general have been struggling with vocabulary up until now. Did you know there are tons of flashcard apps out there to help you study? Moment of truth here: I haven't had to study for a test in 10 years. BUT I did a little research for you and found that "Cram" is supposedly one of the best apps out there. I even found a set of flashcards that will review centers of triangles! This would be a great place to start: https://www.cram.com/flashcards/geometry-chapter-5-relationships-in-triangles-1655496 4. Take 10-15 minutes to read over your unit notes EVERY night before you start doing your homework. Yes, as the unit progresses it'll take you a full 15-20 minutes. You know what else though? Your grade will improve. Take my advice here. 10-15 minutes could save you 15% on your car insurance. No wait, on your grade. Do it. Mrs. Izquierdo Last week of August! Can you believe it? By next Friday you will have survived the first month of school! Notice Wednesday is an early release.
Don't forget you have a quiz on Monday. If you pay attention to the calendar you will notice it does NOT cover what we learned on Friday. It also does not have proofs on it. I have a commitment after school on Thursday therefore I will NOT be tutoring this Thursday after school. Please plan accordingly. Have a great weekend! Mrs. Izquierdo Hi there! Thanks for stopping by.
There's quite a bit happening this week at Wheeler. Open house is Tuesday night starting at 6:30 in the PAC. Picture day is on Wednesday; you will be taking care of that during 3rd block as a class. We are learning quite a bit about lines and angles this week. Notice you have a quiz NEXT Monday (8/27) over what we're doing this week, but NOT covering triangles (Friday's lesson). Have a great week! Mrs. Izquierdo Hi there!
Congrats on surviving the first full week! Only 6 more before Fall break. Not that any of us are counting though. ;) You all received a Unit 2 calendar today. Notice your next test is on Friday... yes, very short unit. Don't forget your homework is in the textbook this time around (again, listed on the calendar). All your Unit 1 test grades are in Synergy and you all had the opportunity to look it over in class today. The test was out of 64 points, but you will notice I split the points for multiple choice and free response in the gradebook. Add those two scores and divide by 64 if you want to know what you earned in terms of %. Have an awesome weekend! Mrs. Izquierdo Hello!!
Can you believe you made it through the first week? Well... the first 3 days I guess. I enjoyed meeting all of you this week and look forward to a fun semester! As the semester progresses, you will notice that I post on this tab only once a week. This is where I'll be giving you any reminders about the upcoming week. If you click the H. Geometry tab at the top, you will find the notes that I post daily. If I ever need to cancel tutoring for some reason, I will try to give you a heads up here on this tab AND send a Remind 101. You can find the code for Remind on the front of the syllabus. Looking at the pink calendar I gave you on Thursday, you will notice that your first test is coming up on August 9th (this upcoming Thursday). That means we have 2 days of notes left and a review day on Wednesday. I hope you have a restful and fun weekend. See you Monday! Mrs. Izquierdo Hi there!
Thanks for stopping by. I'm sure if you are reading this it is because you are just DYING to come back to school on Wednesday. :) A little bit about me... This is my 10th year teaching; my 5th one at Wheeler. I am a total math nerd who enjoys crafting all sorts of stuff on the side. I speak French as my first (native) language, but people hardly believe me when I tell them because my southern accent is now going strong or so I am told (I think it's a lie). I hope you took the time to rest this summer because you are about to embark on quite a wild roller coaster ride! Make sure you buckle up and enjoy it. I look forward to meeting you on Wednesday! Mrs. Izquierdo You've made it! This is my last update for the semester.
Pre-Calculus: You've had your review for a week now (and my answer key has been posted for a week) so hopefully you're done with it and ready to take your final on Tuesday. You are now ready to remove the "pre" in front of Calculus. How exciting! :) Geometry: You will taking the Unit 9 Probability test on Wednesday. Continue working on your review guide. You will have time to check yours answers and ask question on Monday in class. I hope you have a great summer! Sincerely, Mrs. Izquierdo Almost at the finish line! Here's what you need to know to survive next week:
Pre-Calculus: Quiz on Wednesday with a Test the following Monday (May 14th). H. Geometry: You have a quiz on Monday and another on Wednesday! Look at your calendar for specific topics. We will continue on with Unit 8 and test on Friday. |
